Archery Activity (Scores) for the Barony of the Lonely Tower for the Year 2019

 

I have the results of BLT archers for the King’s Companie of Archers, the Society Wide Seasonal Archery Challenges (SSAC), the Inter Kingdom Archery Competition (IKAC), and the Grand Archery Tournament, which is a compilation of scores from shoots over the last several years (mainly the SSAC and IKAC). We also shot the Gwyntarian Winter Challenge in the 2018/2019 season, although, while those scores were acknowledged to be received, they were never recorded to the list.

 

Lonely Tower sent seven archers to the King’s Companie. All of them were on Champions teams. Lonely Tower’s team consisted of Master Rolf Hobart, Master Dolan Madoc, HE Augustin le Blinde, Lord Roger of Bellebrocton, and Lord Gaius Cornelius Scipio Titianus. Baroness Kezia von Holzenhaus shot on the Mag Mor team, and Lady Jorunna Refsdottir shot for Couer d’Ennui. Master Rolf was first in the Huscarl Crossbow division, and Master Dolan placed third. Baroness Kezia was sixth in the Fyrd Longbow division. Lord Roger won the Unranked Longbow division, and HE Augustin finished fourth. Lord Gaius finished 13^th in the Unranked Bow division, in spite of breaking his bow midway through the day. Lady Jorunna finished fourteenth. Lonely Tower officially finished third in the Baronial Team Challenge but on reviewing the scores, part of Roger’s score was not recorded in the team totals. With that addition, Lonely Tower would have come in second, ten points ahead of Vatavia.

 

The SSAC for Winter 2019 was called the Horsemen. There were 281 archers from around the Knowne World who participated in this shoot. Ten of them were from BLT.

The SSAC for Summer 2019 was called Slots. There were 148 archers who participated, but none were from BLT.

 

The SSAC for Fall 2019 was called Golf Par 3. There were 131 archers from around the Knowne World who participated in this shoot. Four of them were from BLT.

The Inter Kingdom Archery Competition had 402 participants, two from BLT.

The IKAC focuses mostly on Kingdom participation. The top three scores for each kingdom are averaged, and the Kingdoms ranked accordingly. In the Open Handbow Division, Calontir ranked 4^th.

Calontir did not have an average in either Crossbow Division, as Dolan had the only score in the Open Division. In the Period Handbow Division, Calontir ranked 5^th, although Kezia’s score was too low to count towards the average.

 

All the scores from qualifying shoots are ranked for the Grand Archery Tournament. Most of the scores Calontir turns in are from SSACs and IKACs, although any shoot with enough ranked archers, such as King’s Companie, can qualify. There is a complicated method of ranking the archers, which takes into consideration not just score, but who you are shooting against, and how often. (Think pro golf tour.) Period or open divisions are not taken into account, but handbow and crossbow are. Scores are counted for the average over several years. I think participation levels count as much as raw score.

 

In the Crossbow Division there are 199 archers. Three are from BLT.

In the Handbow Division there are 1,989 archers listed. Nineteen are from Lonely Tower (though some rarely shoot, or haven’t been active for a while). Nine are in the top 10%.

I am looking into getting Lyleth’s scores combined under one name. Only the Admin for the Scores Site is able to do this, and with the holidays, there is bound to be a delay. (I noticed that several archers from Calontir also have duplicate entries. I think this is common to most of the Kingdoms.)

 

The Gwyntarian Winter Challenge has been run for many years by Baron Nigel Fitz Maurice of the Midrealm. Last winter we had ten archers complete this shoot. The scores were turned in, but never recorded on the site.
